Men’s Tennis Stopped by No. 7 Emory in NCAAs

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Drew University men's tennis team's tremendous 2022-23 season came to a close with a 5-0 loss to seventh-ranked Emory University on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships at North Carolina Wesleyan University.

The Rangers closed out a banner year with a Landmark Conference title and a 17-5 record, tying the 1996-97 squad for the second-highest win total in program history.

The Eagles (17-5) will now move on to the third round, where they will take on the winner of today's other second-round match between No. 16 North Carolina Wesleyan and No. 25 Washington and Lee.

In doubles, the Rangers had their closest match at the No. 1 spot, where Emory's Ryan Glanville and Charlie James topped senior Avi Perera and junior Daryl Wong Li-Hom 8-4. The loss snapped an 11-match winning streak for the pair, who closed out the season with a 12-2 record.

Emory also won at Nos. 2-3 doubles before clinching the match with victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.

Drew was making its sixth all-time appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships, where they are now 5-6 all-time. The Rangers opened this year's tournament with a 5-1 win over St. Mary's College of Maryland.
