Banner Season Concludes in NCAAs for Women’s Tennis

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Drew University women's tennis team saw its banner season come to a close with a 5-1 loss to 28th-ranked Skidmore College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at Middlebury College.

The Rangers finish the season with a record of 19-3, which included just two losses versus NCAA opponents. Drew went undefeated in Landmark Conference regular-season play, won its second straight Landmark Conference title, and won five more matches than any team in program history.

The Thoroughbreds (13-7) move on to the regional final, where they will take on fourth-ranked Middlebury, which defeated Lebanon Valley 5-0 in the other second-round match.

One day after setting the program record for doubles victories, sophomore Mary Kalorin and freshman Sofiya Lebedeva came out on top again, prevailing 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Both players finished the season with a doubles mark of 18-4, improving upon the previous school record by two wins.

Skidmore would gone on to capture victories at No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 singles to clinch the match.

Drew was making its third NCAA appearance and is now 2-3 all-time in the tournament after opening with a 5-0 victory over Hunter College on Friday.
