SHAWNEE ON DELAWARE, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team shot the best round of the tournament on Sunday and the Rangers closed out the fall season with a runner-up finish at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview, held at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.
Drew entered Sunday's final round in fourth place but fired a 302 and finished with a final score of 615 – just five strokes behind the University of Scranton.
Junior
Elliot Parker led the charge for the Rangers, shooting a 71 – the best round of the tournament by any player for the tournament – on the strength of five birdies on Sunday. After shooting a 79 in the opening round, he catapulted from 17th to third place, finishing just five strokes behind medalist Jason Koch of Moravian and one stroke behind runner-up Chris Kilduff of Elizabethtown.
Sophomore
Thomas Hurley was Drew's second finisher, posting a second-round 75 on 14 pars to tie for sixth in the field of 44 with a 153 (78-75).
Completing the team scoring were sophomore
Avery Cohen, who tied for eighth with a 155 (77-78), and senior
Mike Ford, who notched four pars on Sunday and tied for 16th with a 157 (79-78).
Sophomore
Eric Castner also competed and tied for 22nd with a 160 (79-81).
The Rangers continue their season during the spring semester.
