BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior
Toby Gaynor placed ninth out of 203 runners and the Drew University men's cross country team posted a solid performance at the 50th anniversary of the Paul Short Run, held at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus.
As a team, the Rangers placed 12th among 21 teams in a competitive field composed mostly of Division III schools.
Running just his second race of the season, Gaynor clocked a time of 26 minutes, 53 seconds for the 8,000-meter course.
Sophomore
Thomas Edwards was Drew's second finisher, placing 50th in the field of 203 harriers. He was timed at a collegiate-best 28:18.
Freshman
Matt Ellis was not far back, taking 57th in 28:36. Junior
Dylan Crain was Drew's third finisher, taking 83rd in 29:17.
Completing the team score was junior
Gaetano Allegri, who in his second race of the year placed 117th in 30:23.
Also finishing as displacers were freshman
Eliot Vishnevsky, who was 146th in 32:13, and sophomore
Aidan Rosser, who took 177th in 34:31.
The Rangers continue their season on Oct. 19, when they compete at the Rowan University Inter-Regional Border Battle.
