Women’s Hoops Topped by No. 3 Scranton

Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. – Junior forward Gianna Pica posted her fourth 20-point game of the season, but the Drew University women's basketball team lost by a 74-49 count at No. 3-ranked University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference affair Wednesday evening.
 
Pica, who entered the game leading the Landmark Conference in scoring (21.6 ppg), tied her career-high with four 3-pointers to finish with 21 points.
 
Sophomore guard Miabella Diaz added eight points for the Rangers (4-2, 2-1 LC), who were handed their first Landmark Conference loss of the season.
 
The Royals (6-0, 3-0 LC) were paced by junior forward Kaci Kranson and sophomore guard Meghan Lamanna, who scored 18 points each.
 
The Rangers trailed 16-9 at the end of the first quarter and 37-25 at the half. The second half was nearly identical to the first, with Scranton holding a 37-24 advantage over the final 20 minutes.
 
Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it visits Lycoming College at 2 p.m. in another Landmark Conference outing.
