CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Drew University women's lacrosse team played its season opener on Saturday at Washington College and lost by a final of 23-12 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior Lizzy Barrett scored four goals to lead the Rangers while classmate Mary Kate Davidson contributed three goals, five ground balls, and four draw controls. Freshman Grace Patane contributed two goals and one assist, and classmate Paige Shaw collected 16 saves.
 
Mia Salvatierra and Piper Evans scored four goals apiece for the Shorewomen.
 
Washington jumped to a 5-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to 11-7 at halftime.  The hosts then pulled way in the third period, when they outscored Drew 8-2.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Wednesday, when they host Rowan University at 4 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
