Late Runs Send Moravian Past Baseball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Moravian University scored all five of its runs in its final three innings and the host Greyhounds handed the Rangers a 5-0 setback in a Landmark Conference matchup Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Anthony Diaz Jr. went 2-for-4 to lead the Rangers (7-6, 1-3 LC) while Aaron Flyte tossed a three-hit shutout for Moravian (7-7, 1-0 LC).

Drew junior Raiden Yost locked up in a pitcher's duel with Flyte over the first five innings, when the two combined to allow just three hits.

It was a scoreless game heading into the bottom of the sixth, when the Greyhounds scored two runs on three hits before padding their lead with three runs on two hits and two walks in the eighth.

The Rangers had their best scoring opportunity in the top of the first, when Diaz singled leading off and senior Anthony Hernandez walked. But Moravian executed a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. Flyte allowed just three baserunners the rest of the way, and none reached second.

Sophomore Kyle Johnson worked one inning of scoreless relief for the Rangers while freshman Graham Ross blanked the Greyhounds for 2/3 of an inning.

The Rangers play their home opener on Wednesday, when they take on Montclair State at 3:30 p.m. in non-conference tilt.
