Rangers Homer Twice, But Fall to Mount Saint Vincent

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University baseball team homered twice over the opening first four innings to take a 3-1 lead, but the University of Mount Saint Vincent scored 10 unanswered runs to end the game and the Rangers dropped a 12-3 non-conference loss at chilly Doc Young Field at Lonnstrom Stadium Thursday afternoon.

The Rangers (18-12), who saw their 10-game home winning streak come to an end, jumped to an early 2-0 lead when freshman Aiden Mitchell clouted a two-run shot in the bottom of the first. Then in the fourth, senior Billy Coleman launched a solo blast to give his team its early two-run advantage.

Junior Dallas Lorenzetti added a triple for the Rangers while senior Anthony Hernandez doubled.

Junior Kenny Yonker started on the mound for Drew and yielded just one run on two hits while striking out four. Five additional Rangers saw action on the mound, including freshman Alex Feeney (1.1 IP), sophomore Chris Tobia (2.0 IP), sophomore Devan Sutaria (0.1 IP), senior Vincent Desantis (0.1 IP), and freshman Nate Sica (1.0 IP).

Eric Zimmerman went 5-for-6 for the Dolphins (11-14), who broke it open with a seven-run eighth.

The Rangers return to Landmark Conference play this weekend when they travel to Susquehanna University for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
