UPPERCO, Md. – Senior
Kayla Diaz claimed medalist honors, leading the Drew University women's golf team to a runner-up showing among eight teams at the Stevenson University Invitational on Monday at Piney Branch Golf Club.
Diaz fired a 5-over-par 76, edging out Lauren Wright of Catholic University by one stroke for her second victory in her last three events.
As a team, the Rangers finished with a 353, placing behind Catholic (342) but in front of Goucher (395), Gettysburg (400), Albright (413), Arcadia (418), Elizabethtown (435), and Stevenson (494).
Finishing second for the Rangers was sophomore
Roxy Riles, who placed sixth among 44 competitors with an 89. Junior
Brooke Mercer and sophomore
Emily Rhode rounded out the team scoring, tying for 12th with a 94 each. Freshman
Dabin Lee also competed and placed 32nd with a 109.
The Rangers competed in the Landmark Conference Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort in Shawnee on Delaware, Pa.
