MADISON, N.J. – Juniata College ended the first half on a 6-0 run to break open a close game and the fifth-seeded Eagles handed the fourth-seeded Drew University women's lacrosse team a 17-11 setback in the first round of the Landmark Conference Championship on Tuesday in Ranger Stadium.

The Rangers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end and closed out the year with a record of 10-8.

Senior Mary Kate Davidson posted three goals, one assist, and seven draw controls for the Rangers while classmate Lizzy Barrett notched two goals and two assists. Freshman Grace Patane notched two goals and one assist, sophomore Emma Gallaro scored two goals, and senior Emma DiPatri notched one goal and two assists. Freshman Paige Shaw collected nine saves.

Grace Gibbs recorded nine goals and three assists for the Eagles (14-4), who will visit top-seeded Scranton on Thursday in the tournament semifinals.

Juniata opened the game on a 4-1 run, but the Rangers answered with a 5-1 surge to assume a 6-5 lead with 12:22 left in the second quarter. Sophomore Aubrey Welch scored with 4:11 in the first quarter to make it 4-2 before Gallaro found the back of the net with six ticks showing, cutting the gap to 5-3 after one quarter of play.

Davidson scored all three of her goals over a 1:19 span early in the second quarter to hand the Rangers their 6-5 edge. However, that's when Juniata went on their decisive run to go up 11-6 at the half.

The Barrett scored less than two minutes into the second half to make it a four-goal game, but the Eagles responded with the next three tallies to extend their advantage to 14-7. The Rangers scored back-to-back goals in the fourth quarter to draw to within five (16-11) with 2:38 left, but Juniata sealed it with a goal at the 1:18 mark.
