MADISON, N.J. – Geoffrey Diehl C'21 has been promoted from assistant to head coach of the Drew University men's and women's tennis teams, Director of Athletics Christa Racine has announced.

Diehl has served as the top assistant for both programs since graduating from the Forest in 2021 and has helped guide both teams to a highly-successful three-year run. A former Ranger himself, Diehl was a standout performer at Drew and led the team to its first Landmark Conference title in eight years in 2021.

"First, I want to thank Christa and the whole athletic department for believing in me to take over this program, one that I have a lot of love for," said Diehl, who has been a part of five Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors. "Second, I want to thank [former Head Coach] Scott Veith for everything that he did, not only for me as a student-athlete, but the Drew tennis program as a whole. I look forward to continuing the momentum we have built."

"We are extremely excited to introduce Geoff in his new role as head coach," said Racine. "He has been an invaluable part of the Drew tennis program for over eight years and has gained the trust and respect of our student-athletes. I have every confidence in his ability to lead our teams to continued success."

Following graduation, Diehl immediately returned to his alma mater and has helped lead the Rangers to four Landmark Conference titles, including a men's and women's sweep in 2023. The teams have combined to post a 55-3 record versus Landmark Conference opponents (including postseason matches) over the last three years, with the women's squad producing a perfect 29-0 mark during the same stretch. Drew's women's team has also won its opening-round match in the NCAA Division III Championships during each of the last two seasons.

At the individual level, Diehl has helped coach 16 student-athletes earn a total of 40 All-Landmark Conference honors. In addition, he coached both the men's and women's Landmark Conference Players of the Year over each of the last two seasons.

As a student-athlete, Diehl turned in an outstanding career during his time as a Ranger from 2016-21, capped by a banner season in 2021. As the team's No. 1 singles player, he posted an 8-2 record, including a victory over the eventual Landmark Conference Player of the Year that clinched the team's 5-2 win over the University of Scranton in the conference championship match and earned him Landmark Conference Championship MVP honors. For his career, Diehl set Drew and Landmark Conference records for doubles victories after finishing with a 71-19 record while also posting a 43-21 singles mark. He was a six-time All-Landmark Conference honoree and the conference Co-Rookie of the Year in 2017.
