MADISON, N.J. – Former Drew University men's golf standout and assistant coach Lucas Artigliere C'23 has been selected as the head men's and women's golf coach of the Rangers, Director of Athletics Christa Racine has announced.

Artigliere has spent the last year as a men's and women's assistant coach at Drew under former Head Coach John Manos, helping the Rangers to numerous outstanding team and individual performances. In addition, he has worked as an assistant golf professional at both Fairmount Golf Club and the Madison Golf Club.

"It is a tremendous honor to be chosen as the head golf coach at Drew University," said Artigliere. "I am extremely grateful to our Athletic Director, Christa Racine, and Drew University for this opportunity. I'd also like to thank my coaches, John Manos and Maura Ballard, for all that they did for me during my time playing on the team, which ultimately led me to this position. As a former student-athlete and then assistant coach, I am excited to continue building on our success."

"I am pleased to welcome Lucas our new head golf coach," said Racine. "He has played a vital role as both a student-athlete and coach and has earned the trust and respect of our student-athletes. I am excited to see him continue to build on the strong foundation our previous coaches have established over the first seven years of Drew Golf."

As an assistant coach, Artigliere helped lead Drew's men's and women's teams to runner-up finishes at the Landmark Conference Championships this past season. The men's squad nearly captured the conference crown, finishing just two strokes back. The Rangers also won three events and posted the top season average in team history, carding a 303.1.

Individually, Artigliere helped coach four student-athletes to All-Landmark Conference honors. On the men's side, he helped Elliot Parker C'26 register an incredible season, culminating in his second consecutive GCAA All-America award. He also won the Landmark Conference title and became the first Drew golfer (men's or women's) to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships as an individual.

Artigliere also helped coach Kayla Diaz C'24, who earned runner-up honors at the Landmark Conference Championships to close out her record-breaking career with a third-straight First Team All-Landmark Conference honor. In addition, he helped coach Roxy Riles C'26 to her second straight first-team all-conference award following her second straight top-seven showing at the Landmark Championship.

As a student-athlete at Drew, Artigliere was a five-year team member and a three-year team captain who captured the Landmark Conference individual title as a freshman in 2019 and again in 2022. By virtue of his conference titles, he was honored as the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and as a First Team All-Landmark Conference selection in both seasons. He also helped the Rangers to the first Landmark Conference team title and NCAA Division III Championship tournament berth in program history in 2022. Additionally, he became the first GCAA All-Region recipient in team history in 2022.

For his career, Artigliere averaged a 77.3 over 55 rounds. He was the first golfer in school history to break 70 when he fired a 69 (-3) at the Kiln Intercollegiate on April 3, 2022.

In his role as assistant golf professional, Artigliere conducted competitive leagues, events, and instructional clinics for members and guests. In addition, he developed and implemented innovative sales and marketing strategies to promote golf lessons, events, and merchandise, resulting in a significant increase in revenue. He also managed his clubs' social media platforms to enhance brand visibility and engage with the community.

A Madison native, Artigliere graduated from Drew with a bachelor of arts degree in business and was named to the Dean's List and Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll on multiple occasions.

Drew's men's team opens the season on Sept. 15-16 with the Gauntlet, held at Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa. The Ranger women's squad plays its season opener on Sept. 16 at the Moravian University Weyhill Classic at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
