MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore Daniel Arcari and junior Jesse Faro each competed on the opening day of the highly-competitive ITA Division III Northeast Region Championships on Friday at the Drew Tennis Complex.
 
In singles, Faro dropped a tight 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) decision to Luis Crespo of Ithaca College in his first-round match. Arcari took on Griffin Biernat of Skidmore College in his opening-round match fell by a final of 6-2, 6-2.
 
Arcari and Faro also competed in doubles and lost 8-5 to Nathan Chan and Aidan Twamley of The College of Jersey.
 
The championships continue on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the third round and quarterfinals of the singles bracket and the quarterfinals and semifinals of the doubles competition. The event concludes on Sunday with the singles semifinals and final and the doubles final.
