LEBANON, Pa. – Junior
Kate Rice placed fifth among 197 runners and the Drew University women's cross country team finished seventh out 19 teams at the Dutchmen Invitational, hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Union Canal Tunnel Park on Saturday.
Rice, who was fourth among 186 collegiate competitors, continued the impressive start to her cross country career, cruising the 5,000-meter women's course in 18 minutes, 41 seconds. She also took fourth on a 4K course in her XC debut eight days ago at the Misericordia Invite.
Drew's second finisher was sophomore
Sarah Hattan, who placed 34th in 20:13. Classmate
Skyler McGuire was 50th in 20:54 while freshman
April Kusnier took 60th in 21:11. Junior
Annelise Wade capped the team scoring, placing 72nd in 21:28.
Also competing for the Ranger were sophomore
Caitlin Mulvey (81st, 21:42), freshman
Isabella Fortunato (83rd, 21:48), sophomore
Ariana Vira (122nd, 23:07), and freshman
Bella Polizzi (130th, 23:31).
Unattached runner Jenn Cronin won the race in 18:16 while Tara Smula of Moravian University was the collegiate finisher, taking second in 18:22. The University of Scranton captured the team title.
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they race at the Stockton University Osprey Open.
