SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University men's swimming & diving team closed its dual-meet schedule on a high note, breaking four pool records in a 146-136 victory at the University of Scranton on Saturday.

The Rangers, who won 11 events, finished with a 3-2 record for the season. The squad will compete at the Landmark Conference Championships next month.

Drew led 135-130 heading into the final event, the 200-freestyle relay, which clinched the meet in impressive fashion. Sophomore Nicholas Heinio-Widell, junior Brendan Burkett, sophomore Kyle Talerico, and freshman Thiago Silva teamed up for a pool-record and winning time of 1:25.90.

The Rangers also broke the Scranton pool record in the 200-medley relay leading off the meet, as senior Yan Zheng Lew, Silva, Heinio-Widell, and Burkett recorded a winning time of 1:33.49. Additional pool records were established by Talerico in the 200-butterfly (1:54.50) and Heinio-Widell in the 100-butterfly (51.12).

Heinio-Widell also won the 100-freestyle (46.71) and was joined by Burkett and Lew as double winners on the day. Burkett touched first in the 50-freestyle (21.44) and the 200-freestyle (1:45.04) while Lew captured the 200-IM (1:58.55) and the 100-backstroke (53.79).

Also winning one individual race apiece were Silva in the 100-breaststroke (58.61) and freshman Hunor Harsanyi in the 200-breaststroke (2:09.90).

Junior Gabe Spivak contributed runner-up showings in both the 100-breaststroke (59.19) and 200-breaststroke (2:13.35) for the Rangers while sophomore Liam Gregory took second in an extremely close 500-freestyle (4:48.92) in which he finished just 0.26 off the winning pace.

The Rangers compete at the four-day Landmark Conference Championship Feb. 13-16 at Loyola University's Mangione Aquatic Center in Baltimore.
