MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's cross country posted a 1-2-3 finish and beat out FDU-Florham and Saint Elizabeth University at the Battle of Madison Avenue on Thursday at the Giralda Farms Preserve.
The Rangers, who claimed eight of the top nine finishers, scored 17 points while FDU was second with a score of 49. Saint Elizabeth came in third with 83 points.
Senior
Kate Rice led the charge for the Blue and Green. In a combined men's and women's race, she was the top female finisher with a time of 14 minutes, 52 seconds for the 4,000-meter course. Junior
Skyler McGuire was second in 15:18 while sophomore
April Kusnier followed in third with a time of 15:26.
Sophomore
Perri Rubin was next to cross the line for Drew, placing fifth in 15:56, while classmate
Isabella Fortunato rounded out the team score, taking sixth in 16:21.
Also competing for the Rangers were junior
Sarah Hattan (seventh, 16:31), sophomore
Bella Polizzi (eighth, 16:41), and junior
Sophia Kim (11th, 16:58).
The Rangers return to action on Nov. 1, when they compete at the Landmark Conference Championships, hosted by Drew at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, N.J.
