Women’s Basketball Season Ends in Landmark Semifinals

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University women's basketball team saw its 2024-25 season come to a close with a 68-36 loss at top-seeded and fourth-ranked University of Scranton in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Championships Thursday evening.

Sophomore guard Alice Altomare scored 14 points on 4-of-7 3-point shooting for Drew while classmate Amy Rachilla contributed 10 points.

Kaci Kranson scored 14 points and seven rebounds to pace the Royals (25-1), who will now take on third-seeded Catholic University in the Landmark Conference championship game.

The Rangers trailed just 9-5 with 3:17 left in the first quarter after a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Olivia Aliotta. But Scranton ended the quarter on a 10-0 run.

Scranton pushed its lead to 20 in the second quarter, but the Rangers used an 8-0 run to make it 28-16 with 1:08 to go in the opening half. Altomare drained a pair of 3-pointers during the run while Rachilla scored four points during the stretch. The Royals led 30-16 at the break.

The hosts pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Rangers 21-11 to build a 24-point lead heading into the final period.

The Rangers close out the season with a record of 15-12, which was highlighted by the team's first-ever Landmark Conference playoff victory – a 76-68 win over Susquehanna this past Tuesday in the first round of the conference championship. Drew has now won at least 15 games in four of the last five normal seasons.
