MADISON, N.J. – Junior
Aubrey Welch posted four goals and seven draw controls and the Drew University women's lacrosse team earned its first victory of the season with a 12-10 win over Kean University at a rain-soaked, wind-swept Ranger Stadium on Wednesday.

The Rangers led 9-8 early in the fourth quarter before pulling away with three unanswered goals from junior
Emma Gallaro, Welch, and sophomore
Grace Patane.
Drew, which outshot the Cougars 32-24, also received two goals, one assist, five ground balls, and five draw controls from junior
Emily Monaco while Patane and Gallaro scored two goals apiece. Freshman
Kristina Lowe added three draw controls and three caused turnovers while sophomore
Paige Shaw collected nine saves.
Savannah Olsson and Skyler Ray scored three goals each for Kean (0-2).
The two sides were tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter, when Welch and Monaco scored one goal apiece. The Cougars edged the Rangers 4-3 in the second quarter to assume a 6-5 halftime advantage after sophomore
Madi Strong, Welch, and Gallaro netted one goal each in the period.
Drew outscored Kean 4-0 in the third quarter to open up a 9-6 lead. Patane, Lowe, Welch, and Monaco netted one goal each in the stanza.
Kean scored the first two goals of the final quarter before Drew's late 3-0 spurt made it 12-8. The Cougars scored twice in the final 1:25 to set the final score.
The Rangers continue their season next Wednesday, when they visit Stockton University for a non-conference outing starting at 4 p.m.
