Baseball Tops Moravian to Claim Season Series

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Raiden Yost and sophomore Tyler Bell combined on a six-hitter while senior Mike Gallaro went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles as the Drew University baseball team defeated Moravian University 9-3 in a Landmark Conference tilt Tuesday afternoon at Doc Young Field at Lonnstrom Stadium.

With the win, the Rangers (13-14, 6-8 LC) captured the season series versus the Moravian after winning two of their three matchups against the Greyhounds.

Yost (2-1) allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three. Bell fired three innings of no-hit ball, yielding only one run on a walk and two hit batsman while fanning three en route to his first save of the year.

Senior Anthony Diaz Jr. went 2-for-5 with two runs scored for Drew while classmate Dallas Lorenzetti finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

It was a pitcher's duel between Yost and Moravian's Matt Snyder in the early going, and the Greyhounds led 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth, when the Rangers took the lead for good with five runs scored. Lorenzetti kicked off the scoring with a two-run single that made it 2-2 before Yost capped the inning with a sacrifice fly.

Drew tacked on a run in the sixth to make it 6-3, then padded its lead with a three-run eighth that included a two-run double from senior Will Fritch.

The Rangers return home on Thursday, when they take on Mount Saint Vincent in a non-conference matchup starting at 3:30 p.m.
