MADISON, N.J. – Jack McCormick has been named strength & conditioning coordinator at Drew University.

McCormick comes to The Forest following a two-year tenure at Stevenson University, a fellow Division III institution in Maryland. He also acquired experience in the Landmark Conference following a stint at Susquehanna University. A former NCAA student-athlete himself, McCormick was a member of the swimming team at Division II Truman State University.

McCormick follows Blaine Johnson as the second strength & conditioning coordinator in the history of Drew athletics. Johnson resigned earlier this summer to accept the same position at Rider University.

McCormick arrived at Stevenson in July of 2023 as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. In that role, he ran lifting and conditioning sessions for 11 varsity sports, designed an internship curriculum, and created a partnership with Towson University's exercise science department. Then in February of 2024 he was promoted as the head of strength and conditioning in which he managed weight room training and conditioning for the Mustangs' 29 varsity teams. He utilized various sports science metrics, including Catapult GPS tracking, to improve athlete monitoring and recovery.

Prior to his stay in Maryland, McCormick spent parts of two seasons as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Susquehanna from 2022 through 2023. He led full team and individual workouts for over 20 collegiate varsity sports while serving as the primary coach with women's lacrosse, softball, volleyball, men's soccer, swimming & diving, track & field, cross country, golf, and cheerleading. He also assisted in all scheduling and weight room maintenance while serving as the director for all internship programs. Additionally, he played an integral role in the department's effective implementation of Teambuildr while leading the department's use of sport science through the use of wellness questionnaires and vertical jump-based fatigue monitoring.

McCormick competed primarily in the freestyle events at Truman State, where he received a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2021. He went on to earn a master's degree in strength and conditioning from Logan University in 2024, and he is currently pursuing his Ed.D in kinesiology from Concordia University, St. Paul.
