Fini's Hat Trick Sends Field Hockey Past Juniata, Into Landmark Championships

MADISON, N.J. - Sophomore Bella Fini posted her second hat trick of the season, scoring three goals to power the Drew University field hockey team to a 5-2 Landmark Conference victory over Juniata College on Saturday in Ranger Stadium.

With the victory, the Rangers (8-8, 5-3 LC) clinched their third consecutive berth in the Landmark Conference Championships.

Fini scored all three of her goals over a 5:51 span that put Drew up 4-1 early in the second quarter. She has now posted three hat tricks in less than two years as a Ranger.

Junior Emily Caporrino and freshman Emma Kadubec added one goal each for Drew while freshman Vanessa Pennella made four saves.

Mallory Prince scored two goals for the Eagles (6-11, 2-6 LC).

Caporrino put the Rangers on top just two and a half minutes into the game before Prince tied it up midway through the opening quarter. However, Fini responded for Drew, striking twice in the last four minutes of the period to make it a 3-1 game at the end of the stanza.

Fini finished off her scoring spree two minutes into the second quarter, converting a feed from sophomore Karine Johnson, and it was a 4-1 game at the half.

Kadubec got into the scoring act five minutes into the third quarter to make it a 5-1 game before the Eagles set the final tally with four minutes remaining in the period.

Drew closes out the regular season on Tuesday, when it visits No. 25-ranked Scranton at 7 p.m.
