NAPLES, Fla. – The Drew University softball team continued its red-hot start in Florida, defeating both Geneva College and Brooklyn College on Tuesday at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
Â
The Rangers (6-0), who have equaled their best start since 2022, topped Geneva 5-2 before downing Brooklyn 17-4 in five innings.
Â
Drew has now outscored their opponents 60-10 to start the season.
Â
Freshman
Sloan Walmsley was among the Rangers top offensive performers for the day, finishing 4-for-7 with five runs scored. Senior

Â
It proved to be enough run support for sophomore

Allie Porbansky, who combined for the victory in the circle. Duran (1-0) blanked the Golden Tornadoes over the next three innings and left the game with the Rangers leading 3-1.
Â
Meierhofer produced a run nearly single-handedly in the third, leading off with a single before coming around to score on a groundout, stolen base and wild pitch.
Â
Geneva pulled to within a run in the top of the fifth, but Drew collected a pair of insurance runs in the bottom half, which was highlighted by RBI-singles from Meierhofer and freshman
Lorelei Lorentzen.
Â
Duran scattered four hits and struck out four while Porbansky yielded one run on five hits while striking out three over the last three innings to earn a save.
Â
The Rangers piled up season-highs for both hits (16) and runs against Brooklyn and jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, The Bulldogs tied it with three of their own in the bottom half, but Drew went in front to stay with a four-run second. After Brooklyn made it 7-4 with a run in the bottom of the second, Drew closed the game with 10 unanswered runs, putting up a five-spot in both the third and fifth innings.
Â
In the third, senior
