Baseball Downs Moravian in Landmark Tilt

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University baseball team posted its second-highest hit total of the season while a trio of pitchers combined for a three-hitter in a 10-1 victory over Moravian University in Landmark Conference action on Wednesday at Doc Young Field at Lonnstrom Stadium.

The Rangers (12-5, 5-2 LC) piled up 15 hits while scoring in double figures for the fourth time in seven conference games.

On the mound, junior starter Graham Ross worked 4 1/3 stellar innings, yielding just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out a career-high seven. Sophomore Nick Garbooshian came on to blank Moravian on no hits and no walks, striking out two, before senior Chris Tobia tossed a perfect ninth.

Sophomore Zach Maxwell turned in a big performance at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles. Classmate Frank Master finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored while sophomore Dylan Gallagher went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Senior Nick Bisaccia added a 2-for-4, two-run showing.

The Rangers wasted no time taking control of the game, scoring three times in the bottom of the first, which included a two-run double from Gallagher. An RBI-single from junior Aiden Mitchell in the second pushed Drew's lead to 4-0 before the Greyhounds reached Ross with one run in the fourth.

Drew broke open the game with a four-run fifth, which featured RBI-singles from freshman Nick Donofrio and Gallagher. The Rangers tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth, getting one RBI-double each from Bisaccia and Maxwell.

The Rangers return to Landmark Conference action this weekend with a three-game series at conference leader Wilkes University. The two side play a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and a single game on Sunday at noon.
