ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Drew University women's tennis team captured a 4-3 non-conference victory at Lebanon Valley College on Thursday.
The Rangers (4-7) knocked off a team that was 9-2 entering the match.
Drew started by winning the doubles point. Juniors
Kapriana Payami and
Danielle Pettoni opened the match with a 6-3 win at No. 3 before Lebanon Valley won at No. 1. Sophomore
Nicole Kalorin and junior
Riley Roesel then clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.
Pettoni added a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to put the Rangers up 2-0. The Flying Dutchmen briefly tied it after winning at Nos. 1-2 singles before Drew captured the next two points to go up 4-2 and clinch the match. Kalorin posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3 before sophomore
Madison Williams recorded the decisive point, winning 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.
The Rangers are back on the courts on Saturday, when they host Susquehanna University at 1 p.m. in a Landmark Conference match.
