MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 victory over local rival FDU-Florham in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon in the Simon Forum.
The Rangers (6-7) started the match by winning the doubles point. Junior
Daylin Evans and freshman
Anna Kupyna won 6-1 at the No. 1 position while freshman
Sindi Gjonbocari and junior
Destiny Medina earned a 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot. Drew received a win by forfeit at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, Drew won at Nos. 1-5 while receiving a forfeit at No. 6. Freshman
Natalia Melendez Sanchez won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 while Evans was a 6-1, 6-3 victor at No. 2. Medina claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 3, and Kupyna prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Gjonbocari claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they visit Elizabethtown College for a Landmark Conference match starting at 1 p.m.
