DALLAS, Pa. – Senior Tommy Edwards and sophomore Chris Tocci each broke the top-10 to lead the Drew University men's cross country team in its first race of the season on Saturday at Misericordia University's Cougar Classic.
 
The Rangers placed sixth with a time of 27 minutes, 44 seconds for the 8,000-meter course while Tocci came in ninth with a personal-record-tying time of 28:19.
 
Freshman Jon Zeqa was next to cross the line for Drew, placing 16th in 29:28. Juniors Matt Ellis (21st, 30:29) and Eliot Vishnevsky (26th, 31:54) rounded out the team scoring.
 
Finishing as displacers were freshman Chase Riley (34th, 33:48) and first-year Sean Flynn (36th, 34:34).
 
In the team standings, Drew placed fourth among six teams.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Lock Haven University Invitational, the site of this year's Landmark Conference Championships.
