Why did you choose Drew University?
The campus and atmosphere reminded me of my high school and Coach Gaetano did a fantastic job selling the women’s basketball program.
Why did you choose your major and what is your favorite course?
I had taken four years of psychology in high school and I really enjoyed it, and decided to stick with it. Sports Psychology has been my favorite course so far. It gave me a preview of the field that I wish to pursue.
What is your most memorable moment as a Ranger?
My most memorable team moment so far as a ranger is when we won the Gordon State Tip Off Tournament. We overcame a 12 point deficit in the first game to make it to the championship game and we came out on top. Winning this tournament showed that we were a team that was ready to put the Drew Women’s program on the map and make a name for ourselves in the Landmark Conference.
How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
There are a lot of benefits of being an athlete at Drew that carry over into the classrooms. I think the most important benefit is the support you get from your professors. They are very understanding of the fact that you have a lot on your plate as a student-athlete and try their best to help you when it comes to the material. It is also a great feeling when you look over into the crowd and see your professor cheering you and your team on.
What is the most difficult part of your sport?
There are a lot of things that make basketball difficult, but that’s what keeps the game exciting. It’s the feeling you get when you finally reach the goal you’ve been working towards.
Why do you wear your jersey number?
I used to wear #10 in high school, but when I got to college I decided to change it up and go with #23.
What advice do you have for a prospective Drew University student-athlete?
If you’re on the fence about whether or not you want to play in college, do it. Playing a college sport lets you create memories and bonds that are unlike any others and that will last a lifetime.
Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Drew?
Community service is an opportunity for our team to give back to the community that has given us so much. It gives us the chance to help others and make a difference in their lives as well as having them impact our lives for the better.
Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome...
Accepting that some things are out of my control. There are factors in sports, such as injuries that you cannot predict or control, but when these things happen you just have to do whatever it takes to get better and get back out there and help your team win.
