Why did you choose Drew University?
I chose Drew University because I fell in love with it as soon as I walked on the campus. I felt like I was already at home.
Why did you choose your major and what is your favorite course?
I chose to major in History because I love knowing everything about the world and its people and their pasts. To me, it is amazing to have the knowledge that Historians have of the world and how they share this knowledge with other people. I actually am taking my first class in the major this coming fall because I will only be a sophomore so I do not have a favorite course in the major just yet!
What is your most memorable moment as a Ranger?
My most memorable moment as a Ranger so far is our trip to Fort Myers, FL and how we all got to know each other very well.
How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
I think that being an athlete has helped me make more friends because teammates are already like built-in friends. It also opens you up to other coaches and players of different sports as well. In the classroom, I think it helps me to focus more. Knowing that you don’t have all the time in the world on your hands because of practices/games, it makes you work a little harder to get all you need to get done.
What is the most difficult part of your sport?
The mental aspect is the most difficult part, especially being a pitcher. You can’t let things get to you easily, otherwise you are completely out of the game already. You have to bounce back quick when something bad happens even though it proves to be very difficult sometimes.
Why do you wear your jersey number?
To be completely honest, I was a freshman and I had to pick from whatever numbers were left, so there is no real explanation behind it.
What advice do you have for a prospective Drew University student-athlete?
Time management is key! You have to keep focused on school as well as your sport so making little sticky notes here and there about school work or a to-do list is seriously not a bad idea.
Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Drew?
I am a civic scholar so community service is what we are all about. Many of us on the team are a part of this program and giving back to the community means a lot to us. The school and the community give a lot to us so what better way to thank them than giving back?
Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome…
I have had to overcome my own mind many of times. I had to tell myself to push through tough games or tough practices and that it will all be worth it. My mind is probably my biggest obstacle.
