Why did you choose Drew University?
I chose Drew because of its proximity to New York City and for the academic programs they offer. I was intrigued by the Wall Street and the D.C. semester programs, and coming from California I knew I wouldn’t have those opportunities if I stayed in-state.

Why did you choose your major and what is your favorite course?
I decided to be a Political Science major because I have always had an interest in politics and American Government, so it was an obvious choice. I decided to add an economics major as well because I wanted to challenge myself and it pairs well with Political Science. My favorite course was Professor Mundo’s American Political Economy because it covered a vast amount of topics that covered both my major choices.

What is your most memorable moment as a Ranger?
My most memorable moment would have to be winning a conference championship my freshman year and getting to play NCAAs. I will never forget storming the courts after we won the deciding match knowing that we had just clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
Being a student-athlete has helped me manage my time more effectively off court.

What is the most difficult part of your sport?
The most difficult part about tennis is the mental game. At the collegiate level every player knows how to hit a tennis ball so matches really come down to your preparation and developing a game plan.

What advice do you have for a prospective Drew University student-athlete?
My advice would be to use your time wisely and manage it effectively. When you are in season it is hard to balance your academics with your commitments as an athlete, such as practice and traveling for games, so utilize your free time and don’t slack off.

Why is community service important to your role as a student-athlete at Drew?
Being a student-athlete is a privilege so giving back is just a small way that I can help say thank you for the opportunities I have been given.

Name one obstacle or form of adversity you have had to overcome...
The summer going into my first year I needed to have shoulder surgery to repair my labrum and I was told it would take 6-8 months to heal. I didn’t know if I was going to be ready to practice when the season came around, but with a lot of rehab work I earned a spot in the starting lineup and had my most successful season of my tennis career.
