Kelly Douglass enters her third season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Drew University in 2021-22.
In her first year at the Forest, Douglass helped guide the Rangers to a record-breaking season in 2019-20. With a young squad that included just two seniors and two juniors, Drew won two more games than any team in program history, finishing with a record of 18-10. Drew also reached the championship game of the ECAC Division III Tournament as the No. 7 seed, knocking off both the second and third seeds along the way. Additionally, the team won both the Drew Rose City Classic and the Lehman College Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Individually, two Rangers were named to the All-Landmark Conference team while an additional player captured ECAC Rookie of the Year honors.
A native of Clifton, N.J., Douglass arrived at Drew following a four-year career at the University of Hartford, where she competed for the Hawks’ NCAA Division I basketball program. She served as a captain during her senior year, when she helped the team finish 23-11, reach the America East championship game for the second year in a row, and earn a berth in the WNIT. For her career, she played in 119 games and made 67 starts while finishing with 451 points, 231 rebounds, 141 assists, 114 steals, and 43 blocked shots.
Away from the court, Douglass earned a spot on the America East Academic Honor Roll and the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She was also a member of the Dean’s List on seven occasions and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
