First-year head coach
Jane Karger of the Drew University women's lacrosse team announced on Sept. 10, 2015 the addition of Dorian Gilmartin to the Rangers' staff as an assistant coach.
Gilmartin comes to Drew following a diverse background in coaching at the club and high school ranks and a successful playing career at the University of Connecticut, where Gilmartin played under Karger during her time as an assistant coach for the Huskies. Since graduating, she has been involved extensively with the Hillsborough High School girls lacrosse and field hockey programs. Serving in several roles in both programs, Gilmartin has gained significant experience that will prove valuable in Madison.
"I am excited to welcome Dorian to Drew University and the Rangers lacrosse program," Karger said. "Her energy, drive and enthusiasm will add tremendously to the team's goals. I am thrilled to have had the chance to see Dorian grow as a player at UConn and now have the opportunity to coach alongside her in the college ranks."
In addition to her time with the high school programs, she has been active with the Ultimate Girls Lacrosse club and served in all aspects of tournaments, practices and skill instruction for two years. She has also served as a student advisor for Global Players where she was involved in the recruitment of student-athletes for the program, their application process and the development of travel plans for the programs.
During her senior campaign, the Huskies broke several school records and made the first-ever Big East Conference Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in program history. Active in the UConn community while a student, Gilmartin was a member of the Big East All-Academic team as well as CFO and member of the SAAC Executive Board.
Currently, Gilmartin holds a double certification in Personal Training from AAAI and W.I.T.S. as well as serves as a substitute teacher.
