Nick DiBenedetto

Nick DiBenedetto enters his second season as assistant coach of the Drew University swimming and diving teams in 2021-22.

In his first season with the Rangers, Drew registered an outstanding performance at the Landmark Conference Virtual Championships, posting 27 all-conference performances while breaking five school records. Angelo Angione C'21 swept the diving events to become Drew's first-ever men's Diver of the Year while Finn Armitt C'24 and Amira Hadri C'24 swept the Rookie of the Year awards.

DiBenedetto came to the Forest from cross-town rival FDU-Florham, where he served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater during the 2019-20 season. He was an accomplished swimmer for the Devils and still holds four school records.

DiBenedetto began his coaching career working for two summers at the ARETE Swim Camp. From there, the Middletown, N.J. native moved on to the Westfield Area YMCA, where he served as an assistant swimming coach from 2017-19. He also held the head-coaching post for the Avon-by-the-Sea summer league in 2019 before embarking on his stint as a grad assistant at FDU, where he was also the building manager of the recreation center and the quality assurance intern for the athletic department. In addition, DiBenedetto worked as an assistant swimming coach at the Atlantic Club in 2020, serving as the primary coach for the junior group.

As a student-athlete, DiBenedetto was a four-year team member for FDU-Florham from 2015-19. He was a three-time B finalist at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships - twice in the 400-IM and once in the 1,650-freestyle. He holds the school record in the 200-butterfly as well as the 200-, 400-, and 800-freestyle relays. He was honored as the team's Rookie of the Year in 2015-16 and served as team captain during his senior campaign.

DiBenedetto graduated from FDU with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and a master of arts degree in industrial/organizational psychology.
