A five-time Landmark Conference Coach of the Year, Scott Veith enters his sixth full season at the helm of the Drew University tennis programs in 2023-24 after taking over in January 2018. He came to Drew after 14 years at nearby FDU-Florham, where he is the all-time leader in men’s tennis wins, total wins, playoff appearances, and playoff wins.
In 2022-23, Veith led both the Drew men's and women's teams to the Landmark Conference title, and he was honored as the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year for both teams for the second year in a row. The women's squad finished 19-3 and went undefeated in Landmark Conference regular-season play before capturing its second consecutive conference title. The Rangers won five more matches than any team in program history and earned their first NCAA tournament victory since 2010. They finished the season ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division III Region III poll.
On the men's side, the Rangers posted a 17-5 record in 2022-23 and also went undefeated in the Landmark Conference during the regular season before winning their second Landmark Conference title in three years. The men's team also went on to record a victory in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
In 2021-22, both of Veith's teams registered perfect Landmark Conference regular-season records, and he was honored as the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year on both sides. The women's team won 10 of its final 11 matches en route to claiming its first Landmark Conference title in 12 years while the men's team posted a stellar 18-4 record and finished as the conference runner-up.
Veith's men's team had a banner season in 2021, when the Rangers captured the Landmark Conference title with a 5-2 victory over the University of Scranton in the conference championship match. The team started the season 11-0, capped by a 5-0 victory over Lancaster Bible College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championships that extended the team's winning streak to 26 matches.
With Veith at the helm, Drew's men's team has posted an 86-21 record. His squad also posted a 12-0 mark in an abbreviated 2019-20 season and a 16-7 ledger in 2018-19. He has guided eight Rangers who have combined for 25 All-Landmark Conference honors, including 13 first-team selections, as well as one Landmark Conference Player of the Year recipient. On the women's side, he has coached eight individuals who have been named All-Landmark Conference on 25 occasions, including 13 first-team honorees. In addition, Veith has coached the last three Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year selections and the 2022-23 Landmark Conference Player of the Year.
Under Veith’s guidance, the 2018-19 Rangers made a major splash on the scene of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Karel Raska C'21 was named the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winner for the Atlantic South Region, the first Drew student-athlete to earn a regional ITA award. In addition, 12 Rangers were named to the ITA All-Academic Team and the men’s team was recognized as a team of distinction for academic excellence.
