Sean Robinson will enter his sixth year as the Rangers' men's and women's cross country head coach and his fourth season as the Drew men's and women's track & field head coach in 2026-27.
In cross country, Robinson guided Drew's women's team to its top finish at an NCAA regional championship in program history in 2025 when the Rangers placed 10th at the NCAA Division III Metro Regional. In addition, two of his runners - Skyler McGuire C'27 and Kate Rice C'26 - earned All-Landmark Conference Honorable Mention by virtue of their finishes at the Landmark Conference Championships, marking the first Drew women's cross country runners in 13 years to capture all-conference recognition. Robinson also guided Rice to a tremendous season in her cross country debut in 2024, as she placed in the top-five in four different races and ran the fastest time in team history for both the 6K (22:19) and 5K (18:25) racing distances.
On the men's side, Robinson coached Toby Gaynor C'25 to a spot on the All-Landmark Conference Cross Country Team for the third year in a row in 2024, gaining second-team honors after placing 14th at the conference championship meet. Gaynor also captured first-team recognition in 2023, when he finished fourth, and was a second-team honoree in 2022, when he came in eighth. In addition, Gaynor earned a spot on the all-region team in both the 2023 and 2022 seasons. In 2023, Gaynor placed 19th at the NCAA Division III Metro Region Championships and in the process, became the first Ranger in program history to earn multiple all-region honors. One year earlier, he took 31st at the regional championship.
Robinson has also coached the Rangers to success over the first three years of varsity track & field at Drew. Most notably, he coached Drew's first two track & field All-Americans in Sage Hendershot C'27, who earned the honor during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2025, and Emily Camlet C'26, who captured the award during the outdoor season in 2026. Hendershot placed 16th in the long jump at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships to capture Second Team All-America honors, and she went on to finish eighth in the same event at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships to earn the title of First Team All-American. Camlet placed 13th in the 400-meter dash at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships to become a Second Team All-American, and she also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 400 during both the 2025 and 2026 indoor seasons.
Additionally, Robinson coached Drew's first two Landmark Conference Athlete of the Year recipients in 2026, as Camlet won the Track Athlete of the Year at the outdoor championship while thrower Zach Mogambi C'27 landed Field Athlete of the Year honors at the same meet. Six track & field athletes have won a combined 15 events at the Landmark Conference Championships under Robinson's watch while eight athletes have earned a total of 28 All-Region awards.
Prior to his arrival at the Forest, Robinson ran an incredible program as the boy's cross country and indoor track & field head coach at Morris Hills High School for nearly two decades. He coached his student-athletes to dozens of conference, regional, and national awards and was inducted into the New Jersey State Coaches Association (NJSCA) Hall of Fame in 2015.
Robinson took over as boy's cross country coach in 2002 and just two years later was named the Star Ledger New Jersey Cross Country State Coach of the Year. Then in 2005, he guided Morris Hills to a spectacular season that culminated with an invitation to the inaugural Nike Team National Cross Country Championship, where it finished 13th. That same year, the Scarlet Knights set a five-man average course-record time of 16:16 at the Garrret Mountain Reservation during the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) North 1 Sectional Championships. The team also broke a record for the lowest team score (1-2-3-4-8=18 points) in NJSIAA State Sectional history.
In 2006, Robinson became the Morris Hills boy's indoor track & field coach. In that year, he steered his team to every major championship it entered (conference, county, state group and state group relay), the first time that had happened in county history. The Scarlet Knights repeated the feat in 2008, 2009, and 2011.
Under Robinson's direction, the Knights earned 10 NJSIAA State Championships, 21 NJSIAA Sectional Championships, three NJSIAA State Relay Championships, 10 conference championships, and 15 county titles in cross country and track & field.
Morris Hills has also had over 34 High School All-America honors distributed to its cross country/track & field athletes since 1999, largely with the success of the school's 4x1-mile relay, 4x800-meter relay, and shuttle hurdle relay teams. At the 2009 Nike National Outdoor Track Championship, the Morris Hills 4x800 squad won the race to secure the title of national champions after having the United States No. 2-ranked all-time performance of 7:31.60 (breaking the national record) at the Penn Relays.
From 2002-21, Morris Hills qualified for the NJSIAA Meet of Champions as a complete team/individual every season throughout Robinson's tenure.
For his efforts, Robinson was honored with two State Coach of the Year awards, one NFHS State Coach of the Year Honor, five Area Coach of the Year Honors, and seven Excellence in Coaching Awards.
Robinson graduated from Kutztown University in 1998 with a degree in secondary education. He also earned his master of arts degree in educational leadership from Marygrove College in 2005.
