Drew field hockey improved to 2-0 in the Landmark Conference with a 5-1 win over the Goucher Gophers. Nicole DiBattista scored twice and assisted on a third and Hannah Rau added a goal and two assists in the win. The Rangers also got some fine work in goal from Stef Rutkowski and Lauren Fasano who made nine saves combined while allowing just a penalty stroke goal. Drew improves to 7-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Landmark while the Gophers fall to 4-7, 0-2.

The Rangers took control of the game early in the first half as DiBattista netted off Elizabeth Law's assist following a penalty corner. Lauren Fasano made the goal stand up by making three saves before the Rangers scored their second as Kati Eggert turned in DiBattista's cross in the 22nd minute of play. It wasn't long before the Rangers got their third. Drew's penalty corner offense has been terrific this season and again they proved it again in the 23rd minute. Following Eggert's insert Meghan Howlett picked out Hannah Rau. Rau found the net for her first goal of the season.

Just a few minutes later, Rau set up the Rangers' fourth as Drew took a 4-0 lead into the break. Rau got it to Natalie Fleming who scored her second goal of the season with seven minutes left in the half.

Though the Gophers briefly cut the lead to three on Mary Cadwallender penalty stroke in the 46th minute, but DiBattista and Rau combined one minute later to restore the four goal advantage. The goal is DiBattista's sixth of the season in just eight games played.

The victory is Drew's third in a row and gives them a 11-3 scoreline over those 210 minutes. The Rangers are tied at the top of the Landmark with Juniata. It is a short turnaround for Drew, as a match with Stevenson awaits on Sunday morning.
