A tough night for Drew field hockey saw the Rangers fall to Montclair State, 3-0. The Red Hawks scored twice within five minutes midway through the first half and added a third early in the second half. Drew's previously high scoring offense looked rusty following ten days off as they failed to record a shot in the contest. The Ranger keepers, Stef Rutkowski and Lauren Fasano, combined for nine saves in goal.
Jessica Murphy got the Red Hawks first goal in the 25th minute as she lifted a shot into the upper right corner. Melissa Buttray added the hosts' second five minutes later when she tipped in Rebecca Dobiesz's pass.
Deanna Hagel had the third for the Red Hawks in the 42nd minute. Hagel redirected Justine DiPaolo's shot from the left side of the circle. Defensive saves from Stacie Brown and Delia Barr helped keep it at 3-0 for the Rangers.
Drew looks to back to winning ways on Saturday when its hosts Moravian in the Homecoming Day match at Ranger Stadium at 1 pm.
