Rangers Win Seventh Straight, Defeat Goucher 3-1

MADISON, N.J. (October 2, 2011) - The Rangers rallied from a goal behind, thanks to a pair of goals from sophomore Sarah Charles (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central), to pick up their second conference win of 2010.

Drew (8-1, 2-0 Landmark) fell down 1-0 early in the contest when Sara Spadanutta was able to one time a pass from Catherine Armao by the Ranger defense to put Goucher (3-7, 2-0 Landmark) up 1-0.

The Rangers would respond at the 23 minute mark when Charles netted the first of her two goals on the afternoon. The Rangers were awarded a penalty corner where Hannah Rau (Hallowell Maine/Hall-Dale) was able to find Charles for the equalizer.

Drew would wait until the second half to put their second goal up on the scoreboard. The Rangers used the same combination of Rau to Charles to record the gamewinner with a little over 11 minutes to play. Charles was credited with her second game-winning goal of her career while Rau registered her team leading seventh assist on the year.

The Rangers added the final goal of the afternoon with 2:27 seconds left in the game when freshman Brooke Gagliano (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) picked up her fourth goal of the season off a nice re-direction of Kati Eggert (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) shot.

Lauren Fasano (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) came in to play the second half faced four shots and recorded her third win of the fall.

The Rangers held a 11-1 advantage in shots in the first and were awarded six penalty corners compared to the Gophers zero. The second half saw much of the same statistical dominance as the Rangers out shot the Gophers 18-3 and penalty corners 5-0.
