Rangers Fall to Susquehanna in OT, 3-2

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (October 30, 2010) - The Rangers dropped a heartbreaker this afternoon to Conference opponent Susquehanna (12-6, 5-1 Landmark), 3-2. Drew had a goal called back late in the second half, forcing the extra frame.

The Crusaders jumped on the board first, but Drew (13-5, 3-3 Landmark) rebuttled three minutes later when
Sarah Charles (Long Valley, N.J./ West Morris Central) sailed a deflected ball into the back of the cage. Notched at one for most of the first, the Rangers outshot the Crusaders and were able to go ahead just before the half. Brooke Gagliano ( Freehold, N.J. / Freehold Township) drove in from midfield and found an open Charles to sneak the ball past the goaltender.

Up 2-1 coming into the second half, the Rangers looked for some insurance and took six more shots but were not able to convert. Susquehanna notched the game for the second time in the 45th minute, which proved enough to push the game into overtime. As regulation time sounded, the Rangers were awarded one of their 10 penalty corners on the contest. From the top of the circle
Meghan Howlett (Garwood, N.J. / Arthur L. Johnson), chipped the ball past the goalie. With the ball hitting too high in the cage, the referee called back the goal ending regulation tied at 2-2.

Only one shot was taken in the overtime and it was all Susquehanna needed to put the game away.

This game marked the end of the regular season for the Rangers. They continue play this Wednesday, November 3rd in the Landmark Conference Semifinals against Juniata. Drew will enter the postseason as the four seed and will travel to Huntingdon.
