Catholic Crushes Rangers 70-46

The Drew University Rangers fell to the Cardinals of Catholic University of America tonight, 70-46.  The Rangers slip to 7-16 overall and 3-9 Landmark conference while the Cardinals improve to 16-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference.

Drew had two players score in double figures. Junior Mike Mayes scored a team high 20 points (6-13) while going 7-9 from the foul line and grabbing five boards. He also dished out two assists while grabbing three steals.  Sophomore Terrell Brown tallied 13 points (6-12) while grabbing four rebounds.

The Rangers shot 37% from the field in the game while going 12-15 (80%) from the foul line.

For the Cardinals, RJ Dixon tallied 20 points (8-12) while going 4-7 from the foul line.  Matt Fazzini scored 12 points while Jason Banzhaf tallied ten points of his own and grabbed six rebounds. Chris Kearney pulled down a team high eight boards and scored eight points while dishing out three assists.  Shawn Holmes tallied a team high six steals and three assists and scored six points.  Dixon also made a team high four three-pointers (4-7).

Catholic shot 54% from the field and out rebounded the Rangers, 46-32. The Cardinals shot 57% from the foul line and 44% from behind the three-point line.

The Rangers return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM as they host conference rival Goucher College. Just a reminder for fans, the Drew Athletic Department and the Center for Civic Engagement will be holding a bone marrow drive to benefit the national registry tomorrow at Baldwin Gym, from 1:30 to 5:30pm. 

The Cardinals will be on the road against United States Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point, NY at 4:00 PM.
