Softball Blanked by Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 27, 2010) – The Rangers dropped both games of their Landmark Conference twin bill against Moravian this afternoon. Both teams had eight hits a piece on the day but it was the Greyhounds who were able to push across seven runs in two games.

Game 1

Reigning Landmark Player of the Week Adriana Durso (Old Tappan, N.J./No. Valley Old Tappan) went the distance again for the Rangers as they lost 3-0 in game one. She allowed only two earn runs in seven innings and struck out five.

At the plate, second baseman Katie Eggert (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) had two of the four Drew hits while Nicole Spiotta (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown)  and Rebecca Skedzielewski (Cedarville, N.J./Gloucester County Institute) each went 1-for-2.

Moravian got on the board in the bottom of the second with one run and it proved to be all they needed. Starter Jenna Carmon also went the distance and struck out eight Rangers en route to picking up her conference-leading ninth win of the season.

Game 2

Both squads stayed with the same pitchers on the rubber for game two and once again Moravian emerged victorious 4-0. Carmon again went all seven innings this time striking out 10 batters to earn her second shutout victory of the day. Carmon was nearly flawless again as she scattered four hits and walked her only batter of the day.

Durso didn't enjoy the same success as she walked eight batters and was charged with all four runs. The Rangers once again matched the Greyhounds in hits but failed to bring anyone home. Eggert added another hit and finished 3-for-6 on the day. Skedzielewski also chipped in with a single and finished her day going 2-for-5.

The Rangers will return home on Wednesday for a double dip with William Paterson. First pitch is set for 3:30.
