Drew Opens Up Conference Schedule With Win
MADISON, N.J. (March 27, 2010) – The Rangers picked up their second win of the 2009-10 season this afternoon when the beat the Royals of Scranton 7-2 in Landmark Conference action. The win improves Drew's all-time record against conference opponents to 15-0.
Drew took five of the six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to hand Scranton its fourth setback of the year. Matt Imbo (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and Raul Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academia Christo Ray) both picked up their fourth victories of the 09-10 campaign. Imbo won the final two sets and finally shook off Scranton's Jonathan Russo in fourth singles while Smego defeated Scott Melideo in straight sets.
Smego the teamed up with his brother Elliot Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academia Christo Ray) to secure a victory in number one doubles, 8-2.
The Rangers will be put to the test on Monday when they take on regionally ranked Vassar in Madison at 4:00.
