BABSON PARK, Mass. (March 28, 2010) – The Rangers gave another ranked opponent fits this afternoon as #11 Babson College squeaked out a 12-11 victory in a non-conference tilt. Junior Stacie Brown (Upper Marlboro, Md./Calverton) had a season-high five goals for Drew.
Drew put together a solid first half thanks much in part to Brown. The Rangers got to work quickly as they opened up a 2-0 lead 2:17 into the contest. Brown got her first goal of the game off a free position shot at the 28:20 mark and Cara Jeffries (Central Square, N.J./Paul V Moore) scored her first goal of the day :37 seconds later.
Brown would find the back of the net three more times in the half and Drew went locker room with a 7-3 lead. The Beavers came out firing in the second half scoring the first six goals and all of the sudden held a 9-7 advantage over the Rangers. Sophomore Aileen Musynske (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial) lifted Drew out of a nearly 10 minute scoring drought when she netted her second goal of the afternoon to make the score 9-8.
Once again Babson would respond with Alyssa Hood's second goal of the game on a man up situation with 4:30 remaining. The Beavers would get another goal from Alyssa Hood with 1:25 left on the clock that would ultimately prove to be the difference.
With the Rangers trailing 12-9 with fewer than two minutes to play, Drew would stage one more comeback effort. Brown recorded an unassisted goal with one minute to play and Lyndsay Fry (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Morristown Beard) cashed in on a free position shot with just :16 seconds to play. The Rangers controlled the final draw but were unable to get another shot off.
Drew will be on the road again on Wednesday when they take on Muhlenberg at 4:00 in Allentown, Pa.
