Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (September 4, 2010) - Drew got back to its winning ways this afternoon by defeating Division II Mercy College in a non-conference tilt this afternoon. Senior
Kati Eggert (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) had her second hat trick of the year to pace the Rangers.
Drew owned almost every statistical category from the get-go. The Rangers scored four of their five goals off their season-high 31 penalty corners.
Hannah Rau (Hallowell, Maine/Hall-Dale) put Drew on the scoreboard early with her first goal of the young season 9:06 into the game. On a perfectly executed play,
Melissa Kistle (Sandyston, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) found open Rau on the near side post to help capture the early lead.
The Rangers would strike again before the end of the half when
Mary Esposito (Woolwich, Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional) found the back for the cage for the fourth time this season.
The second half, the senior Eggert, would not be denied as she scored all three of her goals in the second frame. With the help of Rau, Eggert scored her two first goals on nearly identical plays off two penalty corners. She added Drew's final goal in the 57th minute of the game, effectively closing out the game.
For second time this season the Ranger defense did not allow a shot as Drew held a 34-0 shot advantage over the Mavericks for the game. Drew was given plenty of opportunities in their own zone as they were rewarded with a whopping 34 penalty corners compared to Mercy's one late in the first half.
Junior
Lauren Fasano (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional) was credited with the win and freshman Christiana Carlini ( Amherst, N.H./Bishop Guertin) played the second half in the cage. Neither goalkeeper recorded a save.
