Brown Leads Rangers to First Landmark Win

Box Score
MADISON, N.J. (January 14, 2011) - Sophomore Terrell Brown (Camden, N.J./Woodrow Wilson) had his highest scoring output of the season while pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds in an 80-65 win over Goucher College this evening.

The first half saw the Rangers in a dogfight with the Gophers as the half ended with the score tied at 32. The second half would belong to Brown and the Rangers as they outscored Goucher (2-9, 0-4 Landmark) 48-33 in the final 20 minutes. Brown had 14 of his season-high 22 points in the second frame as the Rangers halted a five-game losing streak with the win.

The opening 10 minutes of the second half were much like the first 20 minutes of the game as each team traded baskets. At the 8:27 mark Drew (5-9, 1-3 Landmark) would make their move and go on a 16-3 run over the next five minutes to help put away the Gophers.

McNeil Wrice (Riverside, N.J./Riverside) gave the Rangers the lead for good on a pair of free throws with 8:27 remaining in the game. Senior Mike Mayes (Linden, N.J./St. Mary's) then converted on the old fashioned three-point play to give the Rangers a four point advantage. After another Rangers basket, the Gophers would attempt to stop the momentum when Trae Lindsay escaped a double team and threw down an emphatic dunk in the lane.

The Rangers offense was not fazed and went on to score the next nine points and Brown would cap it off with a steal and a break-away dunk of his own with 4:15 to play. Goucher would not get any closer than nine points for the rest of the game.

Dara Mc Keon (Dunboyne, Ireland/St. Peter's College) and Bobby Falconiero (Moorestown, N.J./Bishop Eustace) were the only other players in double figures besides Brown. McKeon chipped in 14 points while Falconiero came off the bench to score 11, his career-high.

The Rangers are back in action tomorrow in the early game when they take on Catholic University at 2:00 PM. The game is Drew's First Annual "Take a Kid to the Game" event where children under the age of 17 are admitted free.
