Royals Edge Past Rangers in Second Half

Royals Edge Past Rangers in Second Half

Box Score
SCRANTON, Pa. (January 8, 2011) - Leading for a majority of the first half, the Rangers kept the margin at one going into the break but could not keep up with the Royals second half burst. Two players in double digits was not enough to match Scranton's four, leading to the inevitable loss 79-66.

Drew (4-8, Landmark 0-2) coming off a close game, opened up with their largest run of the game in the first couple minutes leading by nine. Keeping the momentum going throughout the first, the lead switched hands three times but the Rangers were never more than a basket behind. Scranton (9-2, Landmark 2-0) went up for a layup with 26 seconds remaining in the first to go into the half up by one.

The second half started even, as both teams answered one another basket for basket. It was not until 11:36 remained in the game that the Royals went up by three and never looked back.

Drew's leading scorer Asmar Capers (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) had 29 points in the game, making it his second highest outing in a Ranger uniform. Also in double digits, Terrell Brown (Camden, N.J. / Woodrow Wilson) chipped in 10 points.

The Rangers suffered their second Conference loss and look to change that tomorrow as they travel to Bethleham, Pa. to take on the Moravian Greyhounds.
