SCRANTON, Pa. (October 15, 2011) – Undefeated in Landmark Conference play coming into the contest, the Rangers were shut out by Scranton (9-4, 2-2 Landmark), 3-0 today at FitzPatrick Field. The Rangers drop to 9-6 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.
The Royals set the tone early registering the game's first goal just 1:51 into the contest on an unassisted goal by Gretchen Kempf. The two teams played the rest of the first half without finding the back of the cage. Scranton owned a 9-4 advantage in shots in the first 35 minutes of play while Drew was awarded six penalty corners to the Royals two.
After the Royals lead 1-0 at halftime, Alyssa Fania doubled that advantage 7:17 into the second half when she deflected a shot by sophomore midfielder Laura Megargel for her fifth goal of the season.
Scranton put the game away with less than seven minutes to play when Conroy scored from a yard out off a perfect cross by Fania, for her third point of the game.
The Rangers will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they travel to Montclair St. for a non-conference tilt at 7:00 p.m.
