Rangers Drop Match to #29 Vassar

MADISON, N.J. (March 28, 2011) - After a strong conference outing this past weekend, the Rangers were unable to reach the same outcome against ITA No. 29 nationally ranked Vassar. The Brewers coming off a five game losing streak came out strong to defeat Drew (4-4) , 9-0.
Vassar (4-3) jumped ahead three matches to one, sweeping the doubles competition. In the number three spot,
Elliott Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristos Rey) and
Adam Gerber dropped their first match since becoming a duo, 8-1.
Singles went much the same as Vassar would pick up the next six.
Matt Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck), playing number three, narely halted the sweep by forcing a tiebreaker set. After going two sets, 6-2 and 7-6, respectively he would drop the decision set 7-3.
The Rangers return to their home courts on Wednesday to face Stevens Institute of Technology at 4:30 p.m.
