Rangers Roll in Spring Opener
ORLANDO, Fla. (March 7, 2011) – The men's tennis team started their 2011 season on the right foot with a 7-2 win over Clark College (0-3) this afternoon. Drew (1-0) was able to pick up wins in all but one singles and one doubles match.
After the Rangers lost in number one doubles,
Alex Belfiore (Virginia Water, England/TASIS) and
Matt Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck) cruised to an 8-2 victory over Dan Hall and Bram Smith. Number three doubles followed suit with
Ryan Johnson (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) and
Djedy Hill (Haiti/Rancocas Valley Regional) coming out with an 8-6 victory.
In singles play Brisotti was able to take a convincing 6-0, 6-0 victory at the three slot and Belfiore was also able to win pretty handily with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
Elliot Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academia Cristo Rey),
Adam Gerber (Montclair, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) and
Matt Imbo (Islip, N.Y./Islip) rounded off the Ranger wins in single play.
Drew will continue its spring break trip in Orlando with Wesleyan University at 12:30 PM.
