Lions Deliver Blow to Rangers

EWING, N.J. (April 6, 2011) - The Lions swept doubles and took five in singles to defeat the Rangers, 8-1 this afternoon. Senior Alex Belfiore (Virginia Water, England/TASIS) recorded his 41st career win, in three sets at number two singles.

The Smego brothers, Raul Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academis Cristos Rey) and Elliott Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Academis Cristos Rey) opened the match with the most exciting of the afternoon.The brothers cut the margin to one, but were unable to edge duo of Jeremy Eckardt and TJ Riley, dropping number one doubles, 9-7.

In singles , the Lions took the reins winning four-straight games. Riley went on to clinch the win for TCNJ (6-2) with a, 6-2, 6-1 victory over third singles Matt Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y./Mattituck).

Drew (6-5) travels to the nation's capital this weekend to take on Landmark Conference opponent Catholic University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
