Mules Clip Rangers in Overtime
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (September 14, 2011) - Muhlenberg (1-3) handed Drew (3-3) their third overtime loss of the season with a 2-1 win at Scotty Wood Stadium earlier this evening.
Melissa Boyd (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) scored the lone goal for the Rangers.
The freshman Boyd, playing only minutes from where she played high school hockey, notched her second goal of the season 22 minutes into the contest after converting a pass from classmate
Erin Maguire (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional).
The Mules tied the game up in the second half when Christine Germaske received a pass from the right side and knocked in the the close range goal. The two teams remained tied for the final 21 minutes. Muhlenberg held a 11-8 shot advantage over Drew including eight in the final 35 minutes.
In the extra frame the Mules found the back of the cage on their only shot. After drawing a corner, Mariah Alston moved the ball to Kayleigh Thies for the game-winning goal.
The Rangers will look to rebound at home this Saturday when they take on DeSales at Ranger Stadium. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Madison.
